How to help
By- Will and Ben
Lehlohonolo is six years old and
lives in Lesotho, Southern Africa, and he could live in poverty for the rest of
his life. He wakes up each morning with
his stomach screaming with hunger. To
survive, Lehlohonolo will need water, food and a better shelter.
Lehlohonolo’s first need is clean water. His water supply is dirty and unreliable. Water is the body’s most important substance, without it the body does not work properly. Lack of water can result in death. Lehlohonolo needs fresh water.
Another one of Lehlohonolo’s needs is food. Lehlohonolo cannot remember the last time that he ate meat. For all we know it could be years since he has eaten meat. He is given monthly rations of food including cereal, pulses and oil. Lehlohonolo desperately needs food.
The last of Lehlohonolo’s needs is shelter. Right now he is living in a mud hut in Lesotho. He sleeps on blankets on the cold hard ground. During the freezing cold nights, he and his three brothers cuddle for warmth. Lehlohonolo needs a new home.
`As you can see, Lehlohonolo is more than likely to live in poverty for the rest of his life. For his survival he desperately needs a home, some food and some water.
